Dr. Rick Mars
About Dr. Rick Mars, General Dentist
Dr. Rick Mars has practiced patient-centered dentistry in the Miami area for over 25 years and enjoys the relationship he has built with his family of patients. Dr. Mars always says, “Patients come first in our office, and I never forget one of the first lessons that I learned in dentistry: behind every smile is a person and thus, we treat people and not just mouths.” Most importantly, he not only loves dentistry, but has a great time treating his terrific patients alongside the amazing team at The Dental Care Group. He uses state of the art technology to provide outstanding dentistry in a safe, caring environment. If it is The Wand® to provide the ultimate in comfort when anesthetizing his patients or iTero® scanner that is used in lieu of those mushy impressions, patients know that they are experiencing something special when they are being treated by Dr. Mars.
Dr. Mars attended Emory University for his undergraduate education, continuing on to Georgetown University School of Dentistry for his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He is an Invisalign® Diamond Provider and has lectured internationally on Invisalign for over a decade. He is honored not just to be on Invisalign’s Global Faculty, but was also named Invisalign’s Faculty Member of the Year. While he practices family dentistry, he places an emphasis on cosmetic dentistry, as seen by the great smiles on his patients. It is not uncommon for a celebrity patient to be seen in Dr. Mars’s chair.
Dr. Mars was voted one of America’s Top Dentists for Invisalign, Cosmetic, and Implant Dentistry by Consumers’ Research Council of America. He is the first South Florida dentist to be chosen as a member of Invisalign’s (Align’s) National and Global Faculties He has presented in hospital settings nationwide on various dental issues over the years and has spoken internationally on multiple occasions. Dr. Mars in an author of many dental articles published both locally and nationally. In 2020, Dr. Mars released his first book, The Big Smile: The Principles of Modern Dentistry for Dentists and Patients.
Dr. Mars has received proclamations from the Governor of Florida, the Mayor and City Council of Aventura, the Mayor of the City of North Miami Beach, and from the Miami Dade County Office of the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.
Dr. Mars is active with the Aventura Marketing Council Chairman’s Roundtable, Beth Torah congregation (Past-President), Michael Ann Russell Jewish Community Center as a Board Member, and is a Board Member of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. He has also been a Little League Baseball and Youth Basketball Coach for the last 14 years.
Dr. Mars and his wife, Alison, have been married since 1990. They have three sons, Zachary, Blake, and Cory, of whom they are proud. They also have a mini golden doodle named Charlie. In his free time, Dr. Mars enjoys playing tennis, running, swimming, working out, and traveling.

About Sheena McCoy, Insurance Billing Manager
Sheena McCoy’s journey, from her education at North Miami Beach High School to her current role as the Insurance Billing Manager at our practice, showcases her unwavering dedication and expertise in dental administration and insurance billing. Since joining the Dental Care Group in 2002, Sheena has demonstrated a deep understanding of practice operations and a steadfast commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. Her hard work and dedication earned her a well-deserved promotion to Insurance Billing Manager.
Beyond her professional achievements, Sheena excels in maintaining a balanced life. Her ability to prioritize both family and travel speaks to her strong commitment to personal well-being and her effectiveness in managing multiple responsibilities. This balance not only enriches her personal life but also reinforces her capacity to lead with focus and reliability. Sheena’s dedication to both her personal and professional spheres serves as a testament to her reliability and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Sonia Calaigian
About Sonia Calaigian, Dental Hygienist
Sonia Calaigian is a seasoned hygienist with 15 years of professional experience in the dental field. Her journey began in Colombia, where her passion for dentistry was ignited. Currently serving as the Lead Dental Assistant at Aventura Pediatric & Orthodontic, Sonia’s extensive background enhances the quality of care provided to patients and contributes to the overall success of the practice. Since joining The Dental Care Group in 2008, her remarkable work ethic and dedication to excellence have made a significant impact on both the team and the community.
Sonia’s leadership fosters an environment of professionalism and confidence, earning the trust of both her colleagues and patients. Outside of her professional life, she finds joy in traveling with her husband and cherishing family moments. Her pride in her son Matthew, who is pursuing a career in dentistry, speaks to the deep personal connection she has with her work. Dinah Gomez De Herrera
About Dinah Gomez De Herrera, Dental Hygienist
Dinah Gomez De Herrera is a dedicated Hygienist with over a decade of experience in the dental field. As a valued member of the Aventura Pediatrics and Orthodontic team, she plays a pivotal role in not only providing exceptional care to our young patients but also training new staff on best practices and the importance of empathy in dentistry. Her commitment to professional excellence is matched by her personal passion for nurturing relationships, both with colleagues and patients alike. Dinah believes that a positive dental experience can impact a child’s view of oral health, and she strives to create an environment where they feel safe and respected. In her spare time, she enjoys creating lasting memories with her friends and family, further enriching her compassionate approach to life and work.
Dr. Zarish Shaw
About Dr. Zarish Shaw, DDS
Dr. Zarish Shaw grew up in Abu Dhabi, UAE where she completed her initial education. During high school, Dr. Shaw gained interest in dentistry, shadowed her dentist and decided to pursue dentistry based on her fulfilling experience. Dr. Shaw originally acquired her Dental Degree from University of Karachi Pakistan but after working for a few years she got married, moved to Florida and obtained her US license from Florida Institute of Advanced Dental Education’s AEGD program in 2019. During her program, she was trained in all aspects of dentistry and gained comprehensive knowledge in treatment planning and treating patients.
Dr. Shaw actively participates in continued educational courses and is a strong believer in keeping up with new technology, new techniques as well as advancements in dentistry to become the elite healthcare provider she is today. The ability to offer new treatment options and educate patients on new trends and procedures have benefited their oral health in numerous ways.
Dr. Shaw didn’t realize she would have the opportunity to interact and impact so many lives from various ethnicities when she decided to study Dentistry, from all the amazing patients she’s served to colleagues to team members, an unexpected gift she holds close to her heart.
Dr. Shaw currently lives in Miramar with her husband and two adorable daughters Arabelle and Alisha. Traveling, exercising, enjoying outdoor activities, and entertaining/relaxing with friends and family are her favorite ways to spend time outside of work.
Participating in community events and helping raise funds for a variety of non-profit organizations is something Dr. Shaw is very proud and passionate about. Lending a hand and helping another gives her purpose, as an active member of the community, a loving mother and evergrowing doctor.
Dr. Dalia Rosenfeld
About Dr. Dalia Rosenfeld, Pediatric Dentist
I am passionate about my work, as being a pediatric dentist gives me the opportunity to treat children with the best attention they deserve. My goal is to make each child’s visit to the dentist a positive experience and to develop a trusting relationship between myself, my patients, and their parents. The most rewarding aspect of my job is seeing all the wonderful little smiles on my patients’ faces!
Education and Experience
I received my Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Santa Maria University, in Caracas, Venezuela in 2005. During my last year of dental school, I had the opportunity to offer my services as a dentist to a native Indian community at the center of a plain in a remote area called Wonken in Venezuala’s Gran Sabana. It was a true privilege helping the underserved children of that community and that experience helped me realize my love for pediatric dentistry. I decided to continue my education with two years of specialized training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
Outside the Office
I grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, and now live in Hollywood, FL. I love animals and have a cat named Neo. During my time away from work I enjoy going to the gym, watching movies, visiting my family, and going to the beach. My favorite soccer team to cheer on is the Barcelona Football Club. I am fluent in both English and Spanish.
The work that I appreciate the most is the one with which I will be able to give something back to society. What better to give than the gift of health? I have volunteered my time at Miami Children’s Hospital, at the Dental Clinic, and for the Special Olympics.
Dr. Scott Spencer
About Dr. Scott Spencer, Orthodontist
Dr. Spencer was awarded his DMD degree from Nova Southeastern University. Upon graduation he moved to western Pennsylvania and completed his orthodontic residency at Seton Hill University where he earned a certificate in Dento-facial Orthopedics and a Master of Science degree in orthodontics. Dr. Spencer is board eligible having successfully passed the American Board of Orthodontics written exam.
Dr. Spencer is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, and the Southern Association of Orthodontist.
Dr Spencer is a native Floridian and is happy to be practicing close to his home town, Boynton beach. He lives locally with his wife Heather and their two boys Cam and Blake. Dr. Spencer enjoys coaching youth soccer and in his spare time he enjoys spending time fishing, and relaxing with his family. Dr. Spencer also holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Turfgrass Science from the University of Florida and continues to have interest in horticulture.
Dr. Mitchell David Gruzmark
About Dr. Mitchell David Gruzmark, Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Mitchelll David Gruzmark is originally from Chicago, Illinois and moved to sunny South Florida to attend Nova Southeastern University. He is a a triple shark, and has completed his undergraduate, doctorate, and postdoctoral training at Nova Southeastern University and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Dr. Gruzmark has extensive experience treating patient’s with autism, special health care needs, and cases under general anesthesia.
Amarilys Guerrero
About Amarilys Guerrero, Director of Human Resources
Amarilys Guerrero, a native of New Jersey and raised in Florida, brings a vibrant blend of passion and expertise to her role as Director of Human Resources at The Dental Care Group. Her journey in human resources began after she completed her education at Miramar High School and Broward College, where she honed her skills and developed a strong foundation for her career.
Since joining The Dental Care Group in 2015, Amarilys has been a driving force behind optimizing the Human Resources department. In her role, she oversees various HR functions, including new hire processing, benefits administration, payroll, and compensation administration. Her dedication to excellence and commitment to fostering a positive work environment have been instrumental in shaping the organization’s culture.
Amarilys’s passion for HR extends beyond her role. She is a champion of innovation, constantly seeking ways to enhance HR operations. Her leadership has led to the implementation of several forward-thinking initiatives, including an electronic filing system, an online orientation presentation, and comprehensive HR procedures. These advancements have not only boosted efficiency but have also fostered a culture of continuous improvement and professionalism within the organization.
Amarilys enjoys spending quality time with her family outside of work, indulging in her love for dancing, and hitting the open road on her motorcycle. Her diverse interests reflect her vibrant personality and commitment to living life fully.
